As part of the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Awards Celebration on March 21, the chamber honored Artis Bufford with One Church-Easley its 2022 Board Director of the Year.
Each year, by secret ballot, the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors selects a Director of the Year. This honor recognizes a Board member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty...someone who leads by example…someone who has kept others on course and motivated.
While COVID presented challenges for all of our local businesses, it also presented an opportunity for evaluation and positive change. For our Easley Chamber, the Board of Directors saw an opportunity to evaluate our programs and resources, as well as ensure our efforts are mission focused. And in 2022, a newly seated Adhoc Committee, with the support of the full Board of Directors, tackled that process. But our chamber underestimated how much we would learn about ourselves, including changes we needed to make.
Change is difficult, but necessary for progress. And Artis boldly led our chamber through that process of change, facilitating discussions to explore options, identifying new partners, and most importantly, building consensus. Our chamber’s long-term success will require ongoing evaluation & change, but Artis is recognized for leading the charge to put our Easley Chamber on that forward-thinking path.
